It can be quite frustrating when you find that your exact content on another website word for word.
So if you are very concerned about people copying your content, you will find this plugin very useful.
How it works is that it makes it impossible for people to highlight and select content on your blog.
By the way, I don’t have it activated. I’m not too fussed about people taking stuff from my blog as long as they modify it so it’s not word for word.
The plugin is called WP-Copyprotect and it’s a free one too
How to set up WP Copyprotect
- Go your plugins pages, do a search for WP-Copyprotect
- Install it as you would install any other plugin
- Activate it
- Update the settings

As you can see, it’s very easy to use and will put all those copy cats at bay.
There are actually people out there who will shamelessly and blatantly copy your content word for word without batting an eyelid. So it’s a good idea to install this plugin and make it harder for people to copy your content.
Will it affect your SEO?
The great thing about WP-Copy protect is that it will not affect your on page and off page SEO in any way.
Go ahead and protect your blog posts from content poachers
.
By the way, there’s nothing wrong in getting inspiration from other people’s content. It’s copying word for word that is NOT cool!

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the feedback. I just tested it on Chrome and it worked fine….
Not sure what the problem is, but hopefully the plugin owner will correct it soon.
It does get a little annoying, but if the “copy-cat” credits my original post as the Source don’t think I’ll be that mad about it. But you’re right, copying word from word-definitely not cool.
You are Lucas, I don’t mind people giving credit to the source of the article
Thanks for the awesome resource Ruth, I’ll have to check it out!
Thanks for stopping by Tyrone. Let me know how it goes.
