MLM Prospecting: 3 Strategies For Active MLM Prospecting
MLM Prospecting is very important especially if you are in the network marketing industry.
There are many ways to prospect like emailing your list about your opportunity (passive prospecting), but in this post, I will be covering ways on how to actively prospect for your business online and offline.
I will also share the pros and cons of each of these ways:
MLM Prospecting: Facebook
Facebook is a great place for mlm prospecting. There are over 700 million people on Facebook and there is no way that you can realistically go through 600 million people.
Advantages:
- Cheap or even free – unless you are incurring additional costs for using an internet cafe, mlm prospecting on Facebook is free.
. - Endless prospects – as I mentioned earlier, there are over 600 million people on Facebook so it’s a place where you can never run out of prospects.
. - Rejections are not painful – when you are sitting behind your computer chatting to someone, it’s easier to take rejections when they say no to your business opportunity because you don’t really know them and you can’t physically see them.
Disadvantages:
- Skepticism – people on facebook have the highest level of skepticism because they are being pitched all the time.
If you are a network marketer and you are on facebook, then you probably know what I mean.
.
That’s why you need to learn how to market properly on Facebook. I recently did a blog post on the do’s and don’ts of facebook.
. - Slow to convert – mlm prospectingon Facebook is not the fastest way to build your business because you have to get to know your prospects first, build a relationship with them and nurture that relationship before you can even stand a chance of that person joining your business through Facebook.
.
However, it’s a great strategy if you truly have no warm market.
MLM Prospecting: Warm Market
Unless you have build a good sized highly responsive list on the internet, your warm market is still by far, the fastest way to build your business.
Advantages:
- Free -you don’t incur any marketing costs to speak to your warm market about your opportunity. It’s free!
. - Fast – network marketing is all about relationships. That’s why you can quickly build your business from the people you already know.
Disadvantages:
- Uncomfortable- especially if you have pitched your warm market on precious opportunities that didn’t work out, prospecting your warm market can be very uncomfortable.
.
And that’s why many marketers, myself inclusive, have decided to take our business online and generate leads outside of the warm market because sooner or later, you are going to exhaust your warm market, and then what?
. - Addicted to the outcome – a lot of network marketers are too addicted to the outcome because they are afraid of rejection from their warm market.
MLM Prospecting: Cold Market
I am personally not a fan of cold market prospecting but it does work for some people and that’s why I am mentioning it here. Cold market prospecting simply means talking to random people you don’t know.
If you are like me, that isn’t comfortable with cold market prospecting, you should look into taking your business online where you can target a lot more people.
Going online is not a quick fix because you have to build a list and build a relationship with your list , BUT, it works!
Advantages:
- Cheap, and there are people out there everywhere you go, you can’t possibly get through all of them.
Disadvantages:
- Only for people with courage and not many people have the guts to talk to random people.
These are 3 ways for mlm prospecting and what strategy you choose is down to you.
